This series contains over 11,000 photographs from Albert's youth, time in Congress, and retirement years.

Carl Albert was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University (1933-1934). The series are documents from Oxford University found in Carl Albert's student files. Oxford University create digital items for our collection.

Topics include education, labor, civil rights, busing, gun control, the Vietnam War, revenue sharing, executive impoundment, school prayer, the energy crisis, Watergate, and the administration of the House. An important subseries are memos from John Barriere, executive director of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
